Are you looking forward to travelling to Mallorca and don't want to wait for the summer? Winter in Mallorca is one of the best times to visit the island!

Not only will you avoid the crowds of tourists, but you will also discover a unique side to a destination that is popular with travellers from all over the world. Plus, Mallorca’s winter weather is very pleasant, and the climate is mild, which means you can enjoy walks and other outdoor activities without freezing temperatures.

Read on to discover all the things you can do in Mallorca in winter!

Visit Palma

Mallorca's capital, Palma, is especially charming in winter, when you can stroll through the narrow streets of the old town without running into groups of tourists.

What to do in Palma de Mallorca during winter

There are plenty of things to do in Palma during the off-season. Make the most of the absence of crowds to visit the city's museums and art galleries or sit down for refreshments on a terrace.

If you visit the city on February 2, you can see the Spectacle of the Eight at Mallorca Cathedral. This phenomenon only happens twice a year when the sunlight crosses the main rose window of the building and its reflection is projected onto the opposite wall, creating a perfect eight for 5 minutes.

You can also go on a shopping tour of Mallorca and shop in the local boutiques and artisans. A few kilometres from the centre you can visit Bellver Castle, a circular fortress dating from the 14th century. For the more adventurous, Palma’s beach is ideal for water sports such as windsurfing and paddle surfing in winter.

Go for a hike

Winter is the best time for hiking in Mallorca. There are all kinds of routes on the island, suitable for both experienced hikers and beginners, where you can discover the Mediterranean landscapes and pass through historic villages.

Hiking routes in Mallorca

  • We recommend embarking on a hiking route through the Serra de Tramuntana, a mountain range perfect for trekking with dozens of marked routes.

  • Another of the best excursions in Mallorca in winter is to the Caves of Drach, which form part of the island's archaeological heritage. Inside you will find Lake Martel, an enormous underground lake.

  • Another option is hiking in the area of Sóller, a valley open to the sea with a wide variety of landscapes to discover. Here you will find mountain and coastal routes, and peaks such as the 1,000-metre Puig Major.

Embark on a wine route

If you are a wine lover, you are in luck, because in Mallorca you can visit many wineries and taste the local wines. At Finca Serena we produce authentic Mallorcan wines of the white and rosé varieties, which you can taste at our hotel.

We also recommend a wine route through the DO (designation of origin) Binissalem, an original tour of this region full of wineries, vineyards, beautiful landscapes, and villages with an ancient winemaking tradition.

Get a taste of Mallorcan gastronomy

Mallorca is a gastronomic paradise where gourmets can savour the best of the land and the sea. To discover the local flavours, we suggest visiting the Jacaranda restaurant. This restaurant under the direction of Óscar Velasco, a chef with 2 Michelin stars, draws on its own vegetable garden and the freshest local produce.

The Jacaranda restaurant offers an original tasting menu, as well as daily menus, a seasonal menu of traditional rice dishes and special experiences such as the Barbecue under the stars.

Unwind at the spa

If you're in need of a relaxing break, then why don't you enjoy a spa during your visit to Mallorca? We recommend the Único Spa, our luxury hotel spa in Majorca, where you can enjoy a heated pool, sauna, hammam and a wide range of treatments and massages with high quality cosmetic products.

In addition to the complete facilities, the Único Spa offers daily yoga, tai chi and pilates classes. An experience designed for you to disconnect from the world and connect with your inner self.
